Position: Offshore - Safety Officer

Responsibility and Authority


Key Tasks and Responsibilities

• Proactively encourage the Facility Team, and champion by example, the highest regard for the purpose and values of “We LEAD” with integrity, while ensuring the health, safety and hygiene of all staff are monitored for compliance;

• Liaise with the unit Maintenance Manager to ensure that the annual Unit-specific Verification Audit

Plan is integrated into the Operations and Maintenance Plan;

• Ensure compliance with Performance Standards on Safety and Environmental Critical Elements (SECE) including periodic checks, maintenance and recording of Life Saving Appliances and Firefighting Equipment in the CMMS.

• Assist the Safety Superintendent in overseeing the Safety Observation Card programme on the Unit from registration through to suitable close-out;

• Champion Safety and Environmental excellence;

• Assist the Safety Superintendent to implement the Health, Safety, Security and Environmental familiarization of all persons joining the Unit;

• Assist the Safety Superintendent to Develop Unit-specific emergency response drills and exercise scenarios, facilitate the debriefing process and ensure lessons learned are acted on including sending reports sent to the OIM and onshore Operational Integrity support in a timely manner;

• Provide HSE support and regulatory compliance advice to Line Management and Safety

Representatives during Unit meetings;

• Support Line Management to carry out effective, timely incident and near miss investigations;

• Ensure compliance with Performance Standards on Safety and Environmental Critical Elements (SECE) including periodic checks, maintenance and recording of Life Saving Appliances and Firefighting Equipment testing in the CMMS.

• Lead by example the effective application of the SYPOL Control of Substances Hazardous to Health

(COSHH) system;

• Assist the Safety Superintendent to monitor effective implementation of the Permit to Work system;

• Assist in competency assessment process;

• Participate in the Offshore Management Review.

• Additional tasks as assigned by the OIM.

The holder of this position has the necessary authorities to carry out the responsibilities stated above.



Qualification Requirements:


Education

• Have completed Formal High School education or Higher

• Ideally have completed a degree in Occupational Health and Safety or similar, but lack of formal education may be compensated by long relevant experience.

• Have completed NEBOSH General Certificate

• Major Emergency Management Initial Response.


Experience:


• 5-10 years as an industrial safety officer or relevant experience in the oil and gas or marine environments.
